My HERO
Fought in the Korean War 1948-1949.
I believe he was a radio operator, apart of the 7001 Army service unit.
He also worked at the Pentegon Building in appox 1951.
He was awarded the "silver star" for bravery and also a
"Purple Heart."
Grandpa was very quiet about his time in the service so very little is known
about his time he served OUR COUNTRY. But I am very proud to have a
Grandfather that proudly fought for our country!!! He was a proud American.
He is greatly missed, but I wanted to give Him honor this Memorial Day, by saying
"Thank you Papaw, for giving your time to help keep me and America Free!!! I LOVE YOU!"

Our baby goose
Our baby goose is getting big. He is not as cute as what he was when he was little. And soon he will look awful, when he looses all of his "baby fuz". This is our 2nd spring to watch a baby goose grow. Pretty awsome watching a baby animal grow. Since I don't have Children yet, I enjoy watching this little "baby goose" grow. Mommy and Daddy are really protective....you get near and "H-i-sssssss"!!! I keep my distance needless to say.

Happy Mothers Day
Well, its mothers day! And I want to send out a happy mothers day to two very important women in my life.
MAMA-I love you very much. You have been a wonderful mother to me. You have so many fine qualitys that I love. I have so many memories of you doing things with us kids, like cooking and coloring....I remember you even taking the time to comb my "barbies" hair with me. You were a very hard worker at school...and I am glad because of that hard work I was able to get a good Christian education. You taught me alot of things, especially about cooking. I know I was underfoot alot but you were always patient and let me make that batch of cookies or brownies. I love you and am glad God gave you to me. Mom Thompson- You have played a major role in my life the last 6 years (including our dating) I want to thank you for taking me in just like a daughter. You have shown such a love to me. Also thank you for raising such a wonderful son. With your training and teaching, you taught him how to be a wonderful husband to me. I love you Mom.

Happy Cinco-de-Mayo!!!

This Saturday we had alot of fun. We decided to pick up Jonathan and Caroline Robbins and the guys went shopping/pricing for PA equipment for our church. We girls went shopping!!! Then after that we dropped them back off at home for them to clean the church and mow. When they were done they headed back to our house. We grilled out. Then headed downtown to the Canal. It was a beautiful evening and we had a blast with our friends. We saw several "Prom couples" and we were able to take in part of a wedding ceremony. Me being "Picture happy" had to take pictures, but my battery was low so I didn't take so many. We had alot l fun talking, they ended up staying till almost midnight.

A GOOD DAY
This weather has been totaly awsome! I enjoyed walking downtown doing my court runs, even though it was a bit warm. I can't complain. This evening I headed to Castleton mall and had my monthly or bi-monthly "girls night" out. I met up with Leah Randall, Tanessa and Emma Randall, and Jennifer Glick. Also joining us this week was Natalie Herring and her sister Adrian with her little baby girl. (I can't remember her name) We had a good time talking and just hanging out. We did have to cut the evening short, because we were concerned for Tanessa who is expecting her next baby then end of June. She was in a little pain and none of us really needed anything in the mall. (Imagine: Girls shopping and not needing anything.) I had fun entertaining little Emma who is becoming quite needy right now. I think Tanessa and Ben are in for "the jealous BIG SISTER" syndrome.
Well, I am tired and need to fold more laundry before I go to bed. So "GOOD NIGHT ALL!"

Catching up!!!
I have done horrible the last 2 weeks so I am going to put togather some pictures of what's been going on in Jonathan and I's life.

Regi and Jay came down last weekend (April 14-15). Regi and I scrapbooked all afternoon. We had fun sharing ideas and paper and embellishments. Along with alot of talking. Jon camped out in the recliner snuggled underneath his "Colts" blanket. When Jay returned, from helping his parents, we headed out to Don Pablos where "the Hungry Scrapbookers" put away the chips and salsa!! YUMMY!!!

IHC week came and we were going to have passangers: Krista and Lacy Crabtree, plus stuff for "Outlook Makeover's" booth. Jonathan decided to rent a car or truck or whatever the thing was. It is a "Jeep Commander", it kind of grew on us both. When we went and picked up Lacy...we met her in front of Cato's. So of course Krista and I had to go shopping. I got a cute blouse and 2 bags of bath and body stuff all for approx $11!! Krista got 2 pair of shoes and an apple sign for her kitchen. IHC was fun....but to short we had to leave Wednesday night. But we really had fun!!!!

In closing I was having fun taking pics of myself. Jonathan says I am "obsessed with myself" when I start doing that. I don't think so I was just having fun. :) Also thanks to my cousine Regi I really SPLURGED!!!!! I made a big thing of PB popcorn!! Oh my, good thing I am not making it for awhile. YUMMY!!! I wish it was CALORIE FREE!!!!

Via Dolerosa
This post I actually wrote back when I was in college. I believe it was spring 2001. One night I was awake with this story in my head so I got up and started writing. I am not much of an English major at all!!! So mind the run on sentences and the poor grammer. This was also inspired by the song "Watch the Lamb" by Ray Boltz and "Via dolerosa" by Sandi Pattie. I felt I would share it in light of Easter.
Take yourself back some 2000 years. Your shopping in a market in Jerusalem. You spot a crowd gathered around a simple man, yet something seems to surround Him. Such love and power seem to flow from the very essence of His presence. You start looking at the crowd. Isn't that girl on His knee Jirus' daughter? You were sure you had heard your wife telling a friend that she had died! A new person joining the crowd catches your attention, and you do a double take. Isn't that the blind man, Bartemeous, who sits at the temple gate begging for alms? Where is his cane and little tin cup? Your curiosity is getting the best of you. Shopping forgotten, you push thru the crowd. Suddenly, you stop short. LEPERS!!! That women at the edge of the crowd, you know she has leprosy, but as you take a closer look--her face, her hands---Clean!!!! Still curious youstop a stranger and ask, "Who is this man? Where did He come from?" "His name is Jesus of Nazareth, a carpenter from Galilee."
As the stranger turns and leaves you scratch your head and wonder, " A carpenter with healing in His hands? Could it be the Messiah had finally come?" As you take those final steps thru the crowd, you catch His words, "Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest" (Matt 11:28) As the hours pass you find yourself believing what He says, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life."
In the weeks that follow you find yourself following Jesus' path. Your family is with you by this time. The only word to describe your family is "changed", by just a touch of the Masters hand.
Excitement is flowing thru Jerusalem. Jesus is coming!! Palm branches are waving. Your little girls is waving her branch as hard as she can. "Hosannas" are coursing from your lips. You join with the chorus of others singing praises to the Messiah. As Jesus passes by you, on the borrowed donkey, that same look of love and power surrounds Him and now you feel it too!! Oh, how you love Him! He changed you, your family, everything. you owe Him your life. Little did you know that less than a week later you would find your self remembering that phrase.
Later on that day you hear about the disturbance Jesus made in the temple: Casting out merchants, upturning tables, loosing the sacrifices which were to be sold. Your heart goes to your throat. What does He think He is doing? you already know the chief priests and elders dislike Him. What will they do to Him now?
As your family prepares for passover, the news is passed to you that Jesus and his disciples will be meeting together in an upper room for a feast of their own. oh, how you wish you could be in their company.
It was late when you heard a disturbance outside, a group of people are hurrying to the high priest's house. Curious to the cause of the commotion you hurriedly dress and join them. When you arrive you notice the chill in the air and find a place by the fire. "It's Jesus, they have arrested Him!" You are struck with unbelief. NO, Not Jesus, the Messiah, it can't be!" As you glance across the garden you see who you think is...oh whats his name? Peter! Yes, it's Peter. You have got to find out if Jesus is really with the High Priest, but before you can catch up to him, you see him flee from the garden, and were there tears in his eyes?
Confused and bewildered you look towards the door of the High Priest's house just in time to see Him. Suddenly an young, arrogant solider slaps Jesus in the face, another steps forward and spits on Him. Not being able to stand i and to afraid to speak up you turn and run.
The next few hours flow quickly. As soon as it was day you hear He was sent to Pilate, then to Herod and finally back to Pilate. You join the crowd around Pilate's palace. It is a noisy crowd that you meet. some of the same one that shouted "Hosanna" just days ago are now shouting "Crucify, Crucify Him!" you join the small chorus of others saying, "Let Him go, release Jesus!" "Barabas, give us Barabas!" is the louder cry. Your voice is hoarse. You watch in horror as Pilate washes His hands and hear him say, "Take him and crucify Him!" "NO, NO" you scream, "not my Messiah!"
You watch as Roman guards usher away a barely distinguishable man. You turn your head as you catch a glimpse of His back. You had heard about how brutal the Romans could be and now a living example is before your eyes. Torn to shreds by the cat-of-nine-tails causing blood to course down His back and legs. Bruised was His Chest, arms and face, but His eyes still filled with love and compassion, but now you see much pain and agony in them.
You run home to get your wife and children and slowly join the crowd that makes their way to Galgotha. The Roman soldiers push their way thru the crowd as the Saviour of the world struggles with a heavy cross. He stumbles and falls in front of you. You turn to shield your children's eyes from this gruesome scene, when a hand clamps on your shoulder. You turn and find yourself staring into the hardened eyes of a Roman captain. "You, Carry His cross" he snarls!
You go to resist him, as his hand reaches for his sword. Suddenly, you remember your words from a few weeks earlier, "you would give your life for him." You turn and kneel beside your Saviour and lift the crudely made cross from His shoulder and place it on your own. The blood from his body sticks to your robe and trickles down your cheek as you walk down the "Via Dolerosa." (the way of suffering) Tears are freely falling from your eyes as you reach the top of the hill. You are rudely shoved aside as the cross is taken form your shoulders. you catch one last glimpse of Jesus' eyes before you step away from the cross. Still, such love flows from His very being. You want to scream out, "Call your angels to protect you!" But quietly you hurry to find your family as the first ring of steel on steel echoes across the city.
You find your wife and children near the base of the hill. With tears streaming down their little faces the ask, "Daddy, Daddy what are we seeing here today?" As you turn the Lamb of the World is being raised on an old rugged cross and you quietly say, "Children, watch the Lamb."
You stand there for what seems like years and watch the scene unfold, you hear Him pray, you see him cry. Suddenly all goes dark, but it is the middle of the day. Not taking your eyes from the cross you hear Him cry out, "It is Finished!" Beneath your feet the ground begins to shake. An earthquake! As quickly as it came it was gone. Looking again at the cross your heart goes to your throat. "It's over," you think "He's dead! Was I wrong about Him?"
You usher your family away from this scene knowing what is to come. The soldiers will come and take Him down and deliver Him to Joseph's tomb where He will be prepared for burial. You even heard they will be stationing guards to keep a close eye on the tomb. your only excuse for leaving the scene was to prepare for the coming sabbath.
A quiet Sabbath day soon passes, as you begin your week. Your heart still heavy from the memories you are reliving from the short days before. It is still early as your wife returns from the marketplace out of breath and shouting, "He is Risen, He is Risen!" Can it be true? You dare not believe. You rush towards the tomb. Cautiously you look inside the sepulchre. EMPTY! It's true what the angel said, "He is not here for He is risen!"
You start down the road towards your home. Your heart rejoicing! He was the Messiah! No, strike that, HE IS THE MESSIAH, and He is Alive. You know and you believe, because he changed you. As you walk thru the doors of a changed home, you feel this praise bubbling from within your heart and soul...

House Cleaning!!!
10 rules of housekeeping...
"Vacuuming too often will weaken the carpet fibers." Say this with a serious face and shudder delicately whenever anyone mentions Carpet Fresh.
Layers of dirty film on windows and screens provide a helpful filter against harmful and aging rays from the sun. Call it an SF factor of 5 and leave it alone.
Cobwebs artfully draped over lampshades reduce the glare from the bulb, thereby creating a romantic atmosphere. If your husband points out that the light fixtures need dusting, simply say, "What? And spoil the mood?"
Explain the mound of pet hair brushed up against the doorways by claiming you are collecting it there to use for stuffing hand-sewn play animals for underprivileged children.
If unexpected company is coming, pile everything unsightly into one room and close the door. As you show your guests through your tidy home, rattle the door knob vigorously, fake a growl and say, "I'd love for you to see our den but Fluffy hates to be disturbed and the shots are SO expensive."
If dusting is REALLY out of control, simply place an urn on the coffee table and insist that, "THIS is where Grandma wanted us to scatter her ashes..."
Don't bother repainting. Simply scribble lightly over a dirty wall with an assortment of crayons and try to muster a glint of tears as you say, "Johnny did this when he was two. I haven't had the heart to clean it..."
In a pinch, you can always claim that the haphazard tower of unread magazines and newspapers next to your chair provides the valuable Feng Shui aspect of a tiger, thereby reducing your vulnerability. Roll your eyes when you say this.
Dust bunnies cannot evolve into dust rhinos when disturbed. Rename the area under the couch 'The Galapagos Islands' and claim an ecological exemption.
Mix one-quarter cup pine-scented household cleaner with four cups of water in a spray bottle. Mist the air lightly. Leave dampened rags in conspicuous locations. Develop an exhausted look, throw yourself onto the couch, and sigh, "I clean and I clean and I still don't get anywhere..."

Just a note to all "I do keep my house clean, I just don't really enjoy doing it, but love the feeling after it is done. And just so you know I have started spring cleaning my house!!!"

Outlook Makeover
Back in December my old college friend Krista Mitchel Crabtree called me and left a voice mail and asked me to think about being involved in a teen girls ministry. I promptly forget considering the holiday activities, so then in Janurary she called again. I considered it over the weekend and felt this would be a path that God would want me on. Also my husband began to get excited and throw out ideas. I was thrilled to think that this was something Jonathan and I could do togather. So we decided to meet her and Lacy Crabtree and discuss the details of the upcoming Retreat on Feb 23 and 24. (Also on the board is Jennifer Glick, Jill Murray, and Kim Deaton)
Finally the day came and after much preperation we had 31 girls registerd we had our fist session with Sonya Vernon. From the start the Spirit just set down in our midst....Krista said it was amazing looking out over the crowd of girls with some of their hands in the air and tears steaming down their faces. I think the fact that the male gender was not present, allowed the girls to just let loose emotionally and spiritually and just worship God and open up their hearts to what God would want for them. After a touching message of "A Relationship with God" we had 3 or 4 at the alter. We board members agreed we could leave after the first service and say the Retreat was totaly what we had hoped and prayed for.
The evening progressed with several funny games including: Having to act out a fairy tale, WITHOUT saying a word. My team (THE WONDERFUL GREEN TEAM including: Edna and Elizabeth Hunt, Monna Cole, Whitney and Shannon, Elizabeth Wigger and Shelly Weaver) did
After not very many hours of sleep, we headed into a new day with Speakers:Dalynda Crabtree, Elizabeth Welsh, Pam Kuhn, Rolin Mitchel, and Sis. Cole. Speaking on subject of Beauty, Dealing with past mistakes, what I can do for God, Rejection, Trust, and Living the Christian life. Each session the Lord just seemed to come in such a sweet way. I can't even translate into words how happy I was to sit in the service and see God just move thru the pews.
Fun-could only describe the afternoon activites. The Girls had fun giving each of their team leaders a Makeover with the clothes given to them. I had no idea what I looked like until I saw pictures later. *Grin*
Then it seemed the Devil was trying his hardest to defeat us....by a snow/ice storm come in. Kind of ruined our "Brent Vernon" concert, but we still had about 20 their even after alot of girls headed home. We also were expecting a bigger crowd and along with that extra donations, but God still came thru and we closed the retreat "DEBT FREE" and give Brent a sizeable offering!!!

Gatlinburg Getaway
Wow, is what I have to say about this last weekend. My cousine Regina and her husband Jason, Jonathan and I headed out to Gatlinburg, Tenn late Friday evening. We got to our GORGEOUS cabin around midnight. Jonathan quickly took advantage of the hot tub and soaked off a weekes worth of stress in a matter of an half hour or so. Our master suite was beautiful with a nice jacuzzi with a big picture window looking down the wooded moutain.
After a good nights sleep, we enjoyed the hot jacuzzi, where Jonathan put to many bubbles, but brought alot of laughs!!!!
We headed out to Applebarns resteraunt. M-m-m is all I can say about their apple fritters!!!!! After we got our bellies full. We decided to see if we could fill our heads with knowledge or use our imaginations and went to a Christian book store. Where Jon and I indulged and spent a little to much $$$. Then finally we went to a store of all stores A SCRAPBOOK CLEARANCE STORE!!!! Much to our husbands dismay!!! But we were good wives, and how could they argue with everything in the store being 50% off. How could they argue our bargin skills??? They didn't and allowed us to shop to our heart (or more less wallets) content. We did go shopping a little more. and got some wonderful ice cream. The weather was beautiful and we were able to get some great pictures. Jonathan, Jay and I went go-carting. Yours truly was the winner, but only because Jason allowed me to catch up and Jonathans car went "Putt-putt-putt all the way home" Then we went back to the cabin for a relaxing afternoon watching an DVD while Regi quilted away.
Finally for supper we went to Park Grill. Which was great food. Jonathan ended the night quite sick, sorry for me. So Regi and I enjoyed some "Girl talk" out in the hot tub.
Sunday was a sad day, GOING HOME, was in all our minds. Although Jay and Jonathan said they were staying all week long. We decided to Worship the Lord at a New Hope church. Very different, but we all came out of the service being touched spiritually.
All in all it was a great weekend. Thank you Regi for being our main planner. We so enjoyed you and Jay's company!!! We luv you!!!

It's a new year
Ok I realize that Janurary is almost thru and I have had minor things that has not allowed me to blog. Namely "just being to lazy to do it" and do to the fact that I like the laptop better and Jonathan put passwords on our log in. And I didn't know mine and I knew better then to wake him and by the time all this went thru my head I was to worn out to think about blogging on the office computer.
Well I thought I would share my list of NEW Years Reselutions.....Not that you care and no one has permission to get after me for not keeping them. I mean after all most people break theirs, that is why I like to make several so at least if I keep half of them I did accomplish something.
ANYHOW>>>
Here is my list.
1. Finish reading my bible thru by the end of August. (this is something I have never done and so want to do.)
2. Get at least 20 books read this year.
3. Send more cards to people on b-days, ann., encouragement etc.
4. Lose 2o to 30 lbs. (this is a yearly ritual.)
5. Be more organized.
6. Pray more
7. Be a better wife. (that includes keeping my house cleaner.)
9. Draw closer to God
10. Get caught up on my scrapbooking.
So maybe I will give up dates later.
Also to those who keep up with my bloging. The answeres to my uncles Mad Gab phrases are:
"them are puppies, them are not puppies. Oh yes they are puppies. See them pee"
and
"I am retarded"
Happy New year to all. I hope this year is filled with many blessings and many happy memories. May the lessons you learn be pleasent and for the ones that aren't may you find spiritual and physical growth as you get thru them. May God Bless

My Favorite Christmas!!!
Jonathan and I got up and got ready for church. We enjoyed a wonderful "Christmas Eve" service with a message of, "What Child IS THIS?" ( Very Good, thanks Bro.Herring)
When we came home Jonathan locked himself in the office and wrapped all my gifts. Bless his heart he knows I love to Open Paper wrapped gifts vs. opening a bag. So he tried to wrap most all my gifts. (This man spoils me to the uttermost. He has been giving me gifts since yesterday, than had to go buy more gifts for me last night. Even though I told him not to.)
Finally he emerged with arms full of wrapped gifts and a big
boyish smile that melts my heart!! We had fun opening gifts. I got lots of scrapbook stuff, digital scales(Our fist and formost New years reselution), "organic" sheets (incredibly soft!!!) lotions, Dove body wash (smells great), Dove chocolate bar, Springform pans, living room clock, cook book, perfum and several other things. I got him a new outfit (burgandy sweater and brownish pants), a Colts T-shirt, and a Portfolio organizer. (to help him with his/our other new years reselution.)
We than enjoyed cold cuts, BBQ meatballs, cheese ball and summer sausage, nacho cheese and chips. Lets just say to much food and we bearly ate any of it.
Then after a "long winters nap" We started to watch a Christmas
movie then decieded to hop in the car and look at Christmas lights then we came home and finshed our movie. It was a delightful Christmas with my WONDERFUL HUBBY!!! Darling, your truly the best Gift (besides Salvation) that God Has given me. I Love you!! (PS> Please mind the "PJ attire" in our Pictures)
